The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection Probationary Officer (IBPS PO) exam is one of the most highly anticipated banking sector exams in the country. Because the application process handles hundreds of thousands of applicants simultaneously, the online portal employs an automated screening system for uploaded documents. If your IBPS PO photo size, signature dimensions, or thumb impression file sizes deviate from the strictly set guidelines, your application will instantly throw an error. Formatting these images accurately beforehand guarantees a smooth and successful registration.
When uploading your passport-size color photograph, the IBPS portal requires an exact mapping to 200 pixels in width and 230 pixels in height (200x230 px). The digital file size of this photograph must securely fall between 20 KB and 50 KB. Images exceeding 50 KB or dipping below 20 KB will be rejected by the portal. You must use a recent photo featuring a clear, plain white background. Flash glares, red-eye, and photographs taken wearing sunglasses, dark glasses, or caps are strictly forbidden and will lead to application rejection.
Your signature verifies your identity during the examination phase. The required IBPS PO signature size must be mapped to exactly 140 pixels wide by 60 pixels high (140x60 px). Unlike the photograph, the file size limit for your signature is heavily compressed—it must be between 10 KB and 20 KB. You must sign on plain white paper using a black ink pen. Avoid using blue ink for signatures if possible, as black is preferred by IBPS scanners. Most importantly, do not sign in uppercase block letters; the signature must be in a running hand.
For bank exams (IBPS, SBI, etc.), the left thumb impression should be a pixel image (3 cm x 3 cm) at 200 DPI. The file must be in JPG/JPEG format, with a file size between 20 KB and 50 KB. It should be taken with black or blue ink on white paper. Ensure that the ridges of your thumbprint are crisp and not heavily smudged. A blurry thumb impression can cause significant issues during biometric verification at the examination center. If you are applying to other central exams, note that the SSC CGL photo requirements and SSC CHSL guidelines share similar standard formats, though thumb requirements can differ.
In addition to the photo, signature, and thumb impression, IBPS PO applicants must upload a handwritten declaration. This declaration must be written entirely in English by the applicant, on white paper, using black ink. It must not be written in capital letters. The file size for the handwritten declaration should be between 50 KB and 100 KB, with dimensions approximately 800 x 400 pixels.
Juggling four different dimension constraints and strict kilobyte file limits using generic software is stressful and error-prone. Our multi-purpose tool eliminates this completely. By selecting "Photograph," "Signature," or "Thumb Impression" from the dropdown above, the tool automatically adjusts its internal algorithm. You can upload an image up to 3 MB, and the engine will instantly crop, resize, and compress the file securely in your browser to meet the specific IBPS and SSC standards without storing your personal data online.
