Applying for the Indian Defence forces under the Agnipath scheme involves rigorous document verification. The online portals for Indian Army, Air Force Agniveervayu, and Indian Navy Agniveer (SSR/MR) utilize highly sensitive automated systems to check your uploaded documents. If your Agniveer photo with name and date does not strictly adhere to the official dimensions, or if your signature and thumb impression are incorrectly formatted, your application will instantly be rejected. This guide explains exactly how to prepare these files correctly.
For the Indian Air Force Agniveervayu and Indian Navy Agniveer, uploading a "Slate Photo" is strictly mandatory. For the Indian Army Agniveer, while some specific rallies accept normal passport photos, many candidates utilize the slate photo for absolute uniformity and safety during document verification.
How to Prepare the Slate Photo:
Your digital photograph must map to the passport size of 3.5 cm by 4.5 cm. When scanning or using an online resizer, this requires roughly 413 pixels in width by 531 pixels in height (at 300 DPI). The file format must be JPG or JPEG. The file size is strictly limited; your final photo must be between 10 KB and 50 KB. While some Air Force intakes allow up to 100 KB, adhering to the 10-50 KB range ensures compatibility across all defence portals.
Along with the photograph, you are required to upload a signature and a left thumb impression. Both must be done using dark blue or black ink on a plain white sheet of paper. Your signature must be scaled to exactly 3.5 cm by 1.5 cm (roughly 140x60 pixels or 413x177 px depending on the portal) and compressed to between 10 KB and 50 KB. A critical rule: signatures written in entirely capital block letters will be rejected. Use your natural running hand. The left thumb impression should measure 3 cm by 3 cm (240x240 pixels) and must also remain within the 10 KB to 50 KB file size limit.
If you do not have a physical black slate or chalk at home, you can easily use our digital tool. Simply take a normal selfie or photograph with both hands positioned in front of your chest. Upload your high-resolution image (up to 3 MB) into our tool above. Leave the "Add Mandatory Black Slate" toggle activated, enter your full name and the date, and our algorithm will generate a realistic black slate with white capital letters placed perfectly over your chest. It will then automatically crop the image and compress it securely to the 10-50 KB limit entirely inside your web browser.
