Applying for the Indian Air Force under the Agnipath scheme (Agniveervayu) involves extremely stringent document upload requirements. The Agniveervayu portal utilises strict automated checks. If your Agniveer Air Force photo size, signature, or thumb impression limits are even slightly off, your application form cannot be successfully submitted. Understanding the exact dimensions, file sizes, and the mandatory "slate" rule is vital to securing your exam admit card.
The official Agniveervayu notification states that a simple passport photo is not enough. You must upload a recent color photograph taken while holding a black slate in front of your chest. Both of your hands must be visibly holding the edges of the slate. Furthermore, the slate must have your Full Name (as per your 10th-grade certificate) and the Date of Photograph written clearly using white chalk. The text on this slate must be written entirely in CAPITAL LETTERS.
Your photograph must have a plain, light-colored background (white is strongly preferred). You must maintain a neutral expression and look directly into the camera. Spectacles, sunglasses, and tinted glasses are strictly prohibited. Wearing headgear is also not allowed, except for Sikh candidates who are permitted to wear turbans.
For the online upload portal, your slate photograph must meet standard passport dimensions of 3.5 cm by 4.5 cm. When resizing digitally, this maps to approximately 413 pixels in width and 531 pixels in height. The file format must be exclusively JPG or JPEG. The digital file size limit is heavily restricted; your image must fall strictly between 10 KB and 50 KB. Trying to compress a modern smartphone photo down to 50KB while retaining readability of the slate text is difficult, which is why our dedicated resizer is highly recommended.
In addition to the slate photo, Agniveervayu applicants must upload their signature and a left thumb impression. Both of these documents must be recorded using a dark blue or black ink pen/pad on a plain white sheet of paper. The signature must be mapped to exactly 3.5 cm by 1.5 cm (approximately 140x60 pixels) and securely compressed to between 10 KB and 50 KB. A critical rule to remember: signatures written entirely in capital block letters will be rejected. Use your normal running handwriting. The left thumb impression should be roughly 3 cm by 3 cm (240x240 pixels) and also kept within the 10 KB to 50 KB limit.
If you don't possess a physical black slate and white chalk, you can use our tool to digitally generate the requirement. Upload a standard passport-style photo of yourself (ensure your hands are somewhat visible near your chest to simulate holding a board). Leave the "Add Mandatory Black Slate" toggle activated, enter your name and date, and our tool will automatically render a realistic black slate with white capital letters over your chest area. It will then crop the image to 413x531 pixels and securely compress it to the exact 10-50 KB limit right inside your browser.
