GATE 2027: latest official status
The GATE 2027 official website identifies IIT Madras as the Organizing Institute. The portal is live, and the current schedule shows the extended application period closing on 30 September 2026 with a late fee. Application rectification is scheduled for 14–21 October 2026. City allotment is listed for 4 January 2027, while the admit-card date is currently TBA.

GATE 2027 eligibility
The brochure says a candidate currently studying in the third or higher year of an eligible undergraduate degree, or a candidate who has already completed an eligible degree, can appear. The brochure also includes certain professional, integrated and medical-degree routes with their own year/semester conditions. It explicitly states that there is no age limit for GATE 2027.
Examples listed in the eligibility table include B.E./B.Tech./B.Pharm., B.Arch., B.Sc.(Research)/B.S., B.Sc./B.A./B.Com., M.Sc./M.A./M.C.A. or equivalent and several integrated programs. Candidates should check the full official table for their exact degree.

The brochure also notes that some papers have a different mark distribution, including the sectional papers and several specialist papers.
30 GATE 2027 test papers
GATE 2027 has 30 test papers. A new Robotics & Automation (RA) paper has been introduced, and Textile Engineering & Fibre Science is part of the XE sectional paper as XE9. The brochure also records changes to the XE, XH and XL sectional paper codes.
Examples of the listed papers include AE, AG, AR, BM, BT, CE, CH, CS, CY, DA, EC, EE, ES, EY, GE, GG, IN, MA, ME, MN, MT, NM, PE, PH, PI, RA, ST, XE, XH and XL.
GATE 2027 photo size and requirements
The official GATE 2027 photograph page currently requires a good-quality color passport-size photograph, 3.5 cm × 4.5 cm, with the face occupying 60–70% of the cropped image. The image should have a plain white background and a frontal face view.

Photo ratio check: the PDF gives a width-to-height ratio of 0.66–0.89. The tool validates this in addition to the pixel and KB ranges.
GATE 2027 also captures a live photograph during registration. The uploaded recent photograph is separately used for the Admit Card and Score Card, so the live-capture step should not be confused with the uploaded photograph requirement.

The official instructions say the signature must be made only by the applicant. An image that does not match the signature used at the examination can create a disqualification issue.

GATE 2027 पात्रता
सूचना पुस्तिका के अनुसार पात्र स्नातक कार्यक्रम के तीसरे या उससे ऊपर के वर्ष में पढ़ने वाला अभ्यर्थी, या निर्धारित डिग्री पूरी कर चुका अभ्यर्थी GATE 2027 दे सकता है। अलग-अलग डिग्री और एकीकृत कार्यक्रमों के लिए अलग वर्ष/सेमेस्टर शर्तें हैं। GATE 2027 में आयु सीमा नहीं है।

How the GATE photo/signature tool works
- Select Photo or Signature.
- Upload the source image; it remains in your browser.
- Choose an official-range preset or enter your own working dimensions and KB target.
- Process the image and review the dimensions and final file size.
- Download the JPG and verify the final composition, face visibility or signature coverage before submitting.
How to apply for GATE 2027
GATE 2027 applications are submitted online through GOAPS. The official brochure says candidates upload the photograph, signature, photo ID and applicable certificates online. Indian nationals are directed to use DigiLocker-based registration, and the official website advises candidates to keep the relevant DigiLocker account because future communications may refer to that account.

GATE 2027 के लिए आवेदन कैसे करें?
आवेदन GOAPS के माध्यम से ऑनलाइन किया जाता है। आधिकारिक सूचना पुस्तिका के अनुसार फोटो, हस्ताक्षर, फोटो पहचान पत्र और लागू प्रमाणपत्र ऑनलाइन अपलोड करने होते हैं। भारतीय अभ्यर्थियों के लिए DigiLocker आधारित पंजीकरण के निर्देश दिए गए हैं।
